Rowledge C of E Primary School is committed to inclusion. The school aims to provide an appropriate and high quality education for all children.. We believe that all children have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. This will be readily accessible to them and they will be fully included in all aspects of school life.
We believe that inclusion is essential in ensuring the equality of opportunity for all learners whatever their age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, attainment and background. This demonstrates our commitment to valuing the diversity of the school community.
It is accepted that many pupils will experience some form of barrier to learning at some time in their education. At Rowledge C of E Primary we aim to match the pupils’ needs, whether they are complex and recognised by an Education and Health Care Plan or of a more specific but temporary nature, with appropriate support.
Help may be given in a variety of ways, ranging from high quality whole class teaching, intensive small group work or one to one support. Pupils requiring support which is additional to or different from that which is normally provided, have their needs recorded and their progress monitored at regular intervals. We work with parents and families closely to ensure that needs are being met appropriately.
Our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCO) are Miss Chloe Hill and Ms Sarah Oliver (Headteacher). They can be contacted through the school office or via direct email.
The school works closely with the Local Authority and other agencies to help ensure the needs of all pupils are met.
